BRISTOL ST.
RESIDENCES

Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Bristol St. project is a residential development property in Kendall Square, at the heart of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The building holds three modern condos, each with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two landscaped patios, and thoughtfully designed luxury kitchens. Our team worked in collaboration with The Harder Group to conceptualize contemporary, but warm, inviting, and unique spaces for buyers in Cambridge.

Our brief was to bring nuance and interest to a development project, which is not always easy. Developments have a bottom line that private residential clients don't, so efficiency was a priority. That said, the intent of the project was to create something special -- a uniquely modern but livable option for Kendall Square residents. We used rich materials like dark ash cabinetry with Carrara marble countertops, custom pieces like a carved marble powder room sink, and avoided recessed lights in favor of bronze surface mounted fixtures. The floor to ceiling black windows are softened with sheer wool drapery and a soft, extra warm white paint color.

Marble tile, which was used in two of the three full bathrooms, can be upwards of $30-50/sf, but has an inimitable feel to it. When budget is restricted, instead of using imitation marble we love to combine rich natural marble tiles with simple ceramic or porcelain tiles. The mix of materials creates an interesting visual and textural experience, and also achieves the impact of natural stone without compromising budget.
