CHEBEAGUE
ISLAND RESIDENCE

Chebeague Island, Maine

Our Chebeague Island Residence project is one about coming home. Our clients, a couple with adult children, fell in love and got married in Portland, Maine decades ago but work took them away to other parts of the US for most of their adulthood. Ever since, they had been looking forward to coming back to Maine. We had the distinct pleasure of working on the home that welcomed them back to the state.

The home is an early 2000s build that has beautiful windows, cased in classic millwork with views of the Chebeague Island harbor. Past that, it needed an overhaul of its dated kitchen and bathrooms, orange wood flooring, and smoke-stained walls. We took the first floor almost to the studs and reimagined the interior as a soft, classic waterfront cottage with nostalgic elements and plenty of warm, inviting textures.

The open layout on the first floor connects a beautiful custom kitchen -- with a rich maroon island, water glass clad uppers, and stone hood surround -- to a comfortable eat-in dining space with a custom trestle dining table, vintage chairs, and a mirroring maroon banquette. The living room is a soft and livable space full of layered neutrals, punctuated by a rich chocolate velvet daybed. Upstairs, classic coastal white-painted floors connect sweet little guest rooms and a primary suite with Botticino marble floors and a large custom walk-in shower.
