THE PORTLAND
VICTORIA
N

Winter 2022 - Summer 2023

The Portland Victorian project was about re-imaging the first floor of a beautiful Victorian home in a small neighborhood of Portland, Maine. The home was full of classic, original millwork and simple sophistication. Over the years, various eras and trends masked the timeless original details and confused the home's architecture. Though the dark wood millwork was mostly left un-touched, dated additions made the wood seem heavy and stuffy. Our brief was to reimagine these original details to once again feel timeless, and to layer in contemporary and bright elements to craft soft, livable sophistication. Abigail Shea

A crisp coat of warm white paint and thoughtful materials like marble and polished nickel brought this home back to life. The powder bathroom, a favorite space, boasts a custom Turkish marble sink, classic plumbing fixtures, and baseboards to match the purple Brazilian slate floors. Contemporary, clean-lined furnishings leave the living and dining spaces feeling fresh, approachable, and balanced.
